Nvidia Faces Revenue Threat from U.S. AI Chip Export Curbs

Nvidia (NVDA.O) may face significant revenue challenges due to new U.S. export restrictions on artificial intelligence (AI) chips, aimed at curbing global distribution of these high-demand processors, analysts said on Monday.

The regulations, among the Biden administration's strictest, restrict AI chip exports to most countries except close U.S. allies and reinforce blocks on exports to nations like China. The goal is to prevent Beijing from acquiring advanced chips that could enhance its military capabilities.

Nvidia, a global leader in AI chips with a market value exceeding $3 trillion, relies on international markets for 56% of its revenue, with China accounting for 17%. These restrictions may undermine the company's ability to meet investor expectations for robust revenue growth.

"These rules will significantly limit Nvidia's market, as up to half its chips are destined for countries that will now be off-limits," said D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria.

In response, Nvidia Vice President of Government Affairs Ned Finkle warned that the curbs could derail innovation, hinder global economic growth, and weaken America's leadership in AI. He criticized the rules for imposing excessive control over the design and marketing of U.S. technology globally.

Shares of the Santa Clara-based company fell 2% following the announcement.

The UAE’s AI leadership is rooted in initiatives like appointing the world’s first Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and launching Smart Dubai under the Dubai Future Foundation. Smart Dubai aims to make the city the world’s smartest and happiest through AI-driven governance, efficient resource management, and improved quality of life.

OpenAI just launched ChatGPT Tasks

OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Tasks, a feature that transforms ChatGPT into a more capable personal assistant by enabling users to schedule actions and reminders. Currently in beta, Tasks allow ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users to streamline their productivity by managing recurring or one-time tasks directly within the platform.

Key Features of ChatGPT Tasks
